What you will achieve during this workshop:
1.Brief understanding how to create and style a unique fascinator/ hat that suits your style.
2.Finding best hat styles and shape fit you.
3.Learning some basic hat making process and skills.
4. Result: finishing a lovely winter fascinator or hat with veil and trimmings.
Workshop will provide:
1. 1 hat base per person.
2. Selection of trimmings: feathers, veil, crinoline, ribbons, combs, headbands, hat elastics, hat boxes etc.
3. Sewing and making tools and sundries, steamer and steam iron
4. Range of creative hat designs to try on.
Informations and requirements needed from clients:
1. Material choices, wool felt base or fur felt base depend on the option when purchase the class. Wool felt is more cost effective option, but it would take longer time to stretch to the shape; rabbit fur felt is more velvety and luxurious, more malleable to stretch to the hat shapes, but the cost is a lot higher .
2. The colours clients like to use, good to know so I can prepare the base and trimmings accordingly, for example pastel colours or bright or dark colours? Great to be specific if you want to match your outfit. Ideally 3-4 colour choices for one group of 4-6 guests.
3. Some basic hand sewing experience, but don’t worry if you never sew before, with my guidance and help you will be surprised how much you could achieve in very short time.
4. We will work with water based or alcohol based stiffeners, anyone has allergies or pregnant we would not recommend to do the class.
Minimal guests
12 guests per class maximal, minimal booking 2 guests.
including traveling expenses for the milliner to bring all hats, tools and materials (within London)
For Client’s own location:
1. Workshop requires a private room with hats display area, large table to work on, chairs, socket and extensions for laptop, full length or half length mirrors. (milliner can also bring half length dressing table mirrors)
2. I have projector for showing the pictures to guests in the introduction, if there is a white wall i can use to project on. or connect with the TV monitors. If not available, i can always show on laptop to small group of guests.
3. Milliner need around 1 hour to unpack and set up ready for the workshop. and the another 1 hour to pack up.
